Did I mention Trash Metal?? The many faceted Zinho is also in a trash metal band with our neighbors the many-faceted Gilvan (who also comes over late at night just to play us beautiful classical Brazilian acoustic guitar melodies) and the double-bass wizard Junior. I helped them make a video to

Zinho and Colin are part of a band called Candonga. They are a really talented and just all round wonderful group of people, musicians, and activists. To my delight, they invited me to perform with them at a concert at the University of Bahia. I got to do some of my Surfer Grrrls raps (and other stuff) and also play the Zabumba!
apply to play in Carnaval in Salvador — and they made it!!! So they are going to be on stage as a featured band in one of the biggest parties in Brazil (and the Southern Hemisphere!)
